Since its debut in 2005, the Yakuza series, despite featuring the same city, main character, and action system in almost every game, has never faded from popularity and is still enjoyed by many. Soon, the series will make its way to Amazon Prime Video, and interesting news has surfaced about the actor portraying the iconic protagonist, Kiryu.
The lead actor hasn’t had a chance to play Yakuza
Ryoma Takeuchi, the lead actor in Amazon Prime Video’s highly anticipated Yakuza series, made an interesting confession. In an interview with GamesRadar, Takeuchi revealed that he has not yet played any of the video games featuring the iconic character he portrays, Kazuma Kiryu.
Takeuchi’s words, while explaining his situation, resonated with many fans of the series: “Yes, I actually have a strong interest in playing the game. I really want to, but I wish there was a break for it. You see, I love playing video games, but when I start a game, I have to finish it completely. This means staying in front of the TV screen for a long, very long time.”
The Yakuza series has been captivating fans with numerous games since 2005. While the series often revisits the same city, characters, and similar action mechanics, its popularity has never waned. Now, with Amazon Prime Video’s live-action adaptation, the series is about to gain a brand-new level of fame.
Takeuchi continued: “Right now, I have many things in front of me that I need to accomplish. So this is where I am currently. But I am eagerly looking forward to playing the games.” His statements showcased the professionalism of an actor taking on such an important role without having played the games himself.
